The Story of Zhi Wei Zheng

Playful portrait of Zhi Zheng

Once upon a time, upon graduating Drexel University, Zhi began his career as a software engineer chasing the classic American dream—striving for an ever-bigger paycheck.

On paper, his life looked great, but on the inside? He was burnt out, anxious, and deeply disconnected from any sense of real purpose in life.

The Calling

At 27, hitting the absolute depth of his depression, he followed an inner calling all the way from his hometown of Philadelphia to the depths of the Amazon Jungle to do the inner work.

He sat with the indigenous Shipibo tribe as they guided him through a plant medicine journey. Far from home, Zhi came face to face with his deepest fears and insecurities he had spent a lifetime running from.

The Surrender

The Inner Prison

Zhi fought his inner critic with everything he had. But after completely exhausting his energy, he finally surrendered and let go… and that's when the voice stopped.

In that peaceful silence, he experienced a spiritual awakening and realized a truth that profoundly changed his life:

"When you fight yourself, you become a prisoner to the relationship you hold with yourself."

"When you start loving yourself, you heal and bloom as a person."

With this recognition, a new mission began to blossom within Zhi.

The Mission

Zhi returned home and founded Moments with Zhi to promote what he calls Inner Care.

This is Zhi's mission:

"The world today is in need of healing. Beyond caring for our bank accounts and other outer metrics of success, we must also turn inward to cultivate self-love, emotional fluency, and a life purpose."

"Healing the world is an inside job, and it begins with us."

Zhi serves this mission through free content on his YouTube Channel and Instagram Page.
